I am really excited to share this new video project. Tatiana Snyder, a psychology instructor at Portland Community College (PCC), has been inspiring new psychology students by showcasing psychologists who have interesting practice niches. So, she invited me to work with PCC video director Michael Annus and editor Lucia DeLisa to describe ecopsychology. This turned into a series of short videos (approx. 10 minutes total). You can see the playlist here or find it on Youtube.

The first video gives an overview of “psychology and nature” approaches. The second describes how I came to do this kind of work. Video three (my favorite) invites the viewer to think about their own “environmental identity.” And, the fourth video speaks to students about opportunities for study. Credits for the video imagery are detailed in the final video.

If you’re interested in reading a transcript of the video and seeing the sources for many of the facts and ideas I cited, along with some further reading, I’ve created a webpage with the transcript and videos.

I think you’ll enjoy the videos. Feel free to use and share. Let me know if something rings true for you personally or if it inspires you.

PS: Happy Earth Day # 45, April 22, 2015.

Regards, Thomas Doherty
